Blue Goji Unveils Consumer Health & Fitness Index

SANTA CLARA, CA–(Marketwired – Mar 5, 2014) – The makers of Goji Play (www.bluegoji.com[1]), which turns cardio fitness machines into a more enjoyable, engaging, and rewarding workout experience, have announced the results of its first Consumer Health & Fitness Index. With two-thirds of Americans overweight and one-third clinically obese, the country is in the midst of a healthcare crisis that is impacting the majority of its population. The makers of Goji Play are on a mission to help people get fit by making exercise more fun, and plan to start with the 46 percent of households that report no one in their family is fit.

Profile of Today’s Unfit FamilyForty-six percent of respondents reported that every member of their household is unfit. The following data from the survey provides critical insight for consumers, health practitioners and health industry professionals on what’s preventing Americans from getting healthy. Based on responses from the 46 percent of households that are unfit:

  • 50 percent resolved to lose weight in 2014, but 37 percent broke their resolutions before the end of January
  • 48 percent say that they would be motivated to lose 10 pounds only after a health scare
  • While 39 percent say that they have at least one cardio machine at home, only 15 percent of respondents use it more than once a week
  • 36 percent say that they either don’t have fun or get bored while exercising
  • Nearly half would regularly use cardio machines if they could have fun, or earn prizes and rewards, while using them

Use It, Or Don’t Lose ItOwning exercise equipment is not enough to improve fitness. In fact, unfit families own more exercise equipment (39 percent) than fit families (33 percent). The biggest difference between fit and unfit families comes down to making exercise a priority. While 36 percent of unfit households report that not having enough time is their biggest obstacle to regular exercise, 52 percent of fit households made the same claim; translation — not having enough time to exercise is really just an excuse when it comes to improving fitness. Other eye-opening comparisons between fit and unfit households include:

  • Confidence Counts – When it comes to keeping resolutions for more than six months, 61 percent of those from fit families are confident they can stick with it, more than double the 27 percent of those from unfit families.
  • Boredom Beats the Burn? – Both fit (30 percent) and unfit (36 percent) families struggle with not having fun or getting bored while exercising.

“My biggest resolution for this year was to get the whole family fit — enough was enough,” said Kim McIlvain, a wife, and mother of two teens living in Floresville, Texas. “Goji Play was just what we needed to get motivated to exercise. Our family started using Goji Play with our treadmill and exercise bike in January and, as a result, are exercising 3-4 days more a week, have more energy, and I’ve even been able to stop taking my blood pressure medication.”

Can We Reverse the Curse of the Cardio Equipment Graveyard and Banish Exercise Boredom?

People buy cardio equipment with the best of intentions for their health and fitness, but of those surveyed that own cardio equipment, 57 percent haven’t used them in more than six months, and 67 percent say the equipment collects dust on a regular basis. Overall, 34 percent of those who own cardio machines still can’t bring themselves to exercise regularly because they find it boring or they aren’t having fun. And, it’s no wonder when 41 percent say they need to be rewarded or entertained while working out in order to start up the treadmill.

“Two-thirds of exercise equipment is collecting dust, with exercise boredom the main obstacle,” said Kai Huang, Blue Goji co-founder and CEO. “With Goji Play, we’re tackling exercise boredom by making workouts fun and engaging.”

In addition to releasing the results of its Consumer Health & Fitness Index, Blue Goji is offering three tips to consumers designed to help them revitalize their workouts and have more fun on their health and fitness journeys.

1. Make your workout into a game. Don’t settle for boring! Goji Play makes your workout fun and engaging with a variety of games that interact with your movement as you exercise. And unlike conventional, track-everything wearables that simply gather and display data, Goji Play motivates you with fun and interactivity, so you actually look forward to your next workout.

2. Track your progress for continued success. For anyone who wants to make serious improvements in their fitness, tracking workouts and progress can help you stay on the path to meeting your goals. A variety of apps, including the Goji Play app, takes out the guesswork and helps show you how close you are to reaching your goals with real-time fitness metrics.

3. Make it social. Make exercise a family affair, or a way to catch up with friends. Fitness can be much more fun, motivational and frequent when you have someone by your side encouraging you, or strike up some healthy competition while striving for the best score, mile-pace, or most steps taken.

Blue Goji Consumer Health and Fitness Index: The Blue Goji Consumer Health & Fitness Index provides a view of consumer attitudes toward health and fitness in 2014 by examining resolutions for the New Year, exercise habits, and family fitness levels. 2,677 respondents from across the United States took Goji Play’s survey online between February 12 and February 18, 2014. The margin of error is +/- 1.76 percentage points.

About Blue GojiBlue Goji is an interactive fitness company that brings motivation and fun to workout sessions. Five Short Fitness Tips?

    1. Reply

If you are really serious in your fight against obesity then you must consider the following fitness tips:

      1. Change doesn’t have to be Difficult

Most of the fitness tips that you come across today would ask you to go for long workouts in gyms and eat only salads and get registered with various high priced health clubs. By fitness tips, most of us think that we have to completely change our lifestyle and thus most of us never bother to think about various useful fitness tips. The fear of giving up your dietary habits is one of the obstacles between people and fitness tips.

      2. Commitment

The first thing that you must have in order to go with good fitness tips is commitment. If you have strong will power and you are willing to improve your lifestyle, then every fitness tip will look feasible to you. You are not required to give up everything, rather you are only required to eat simple and better and go for exercises.

You just have to replace your bad habits with good habits. For instance, you should replace sweet candies with fruits that are as sweet as candies. The only thing you need to change is your lifestyle choice. If you do it, you will look better, feel better. Here are some of the most common fitness tips that every dietary expert would give to you:

      3. How Much Can You Eat?

Eating better doesn’t mean that you can eat as much as you want. Although you can eat whatever you like but in less proportion. Rather than having only two meals, you should have meals after every few hours but in less proportion in order to keep your metabolism high.

      4. What About Water?

A great and proven tip is to drink as much water as you can. Experts recommend that you should have at least 6 to 8 glasses of water everyday. The more water you drink, the more sodium and fat you will flush out of your body. Drinking much water helps in suppressing the appetite as well. Drinking approximately 10 glasses per day really help in getting slimmer. Try to consume water before meal in order to decrease your hunger.

      5. What About Exercise?

It is very important that you perform regular exercise. Even if you are eating less but are not bothering about regular exercises, then there are high chances that you won’t be able to reduce weight. Exercise is an integral part of any fitness program.

You are not required to join expensive gyms of s clubs for exercises. A 15 to 30 minute walk around your home or in a garden is sufficient. A stroll in a park after dinner is one of the most common physical activities advisable for every dieter.

Don’t count the number of minutes you walk or jog; just remember that something is better than nothing. If you make walking or jogging a habit or a part of your life then you will be able to improve your cardiovascular health and your lower body would be stronger. You can even try using stairs instead of elevators as an exercise.

If you’re serious about getting fit you need to make an easy to follow system or regimen of all these good fitness tips.

I Need Some Fitness Tips…? Ok, so i was 140 lbs in feb and started a gym membership. I go 2-3 times a week, sometimes less because I am a waitress at the Olive Garden and work a lot of doubles and cant always get there (plus i walk around for 10 hours-thats excercise) and now I fluxuate between 127-130 lbs. When I go, I do the bike for 15-20 min, the eliptical for 15 min and tredmill for 15-20. Thats worked for me, but I want to focus on my stomach for the summer.

Any tips for home abs? How many crunches should I do a day? I have a very busy life and can not always get to the gym. I feel guilty, so Im thinking of some things I can do at home? I know I do not spend very much time at the gym, but so far it has been working. I want to continue to loose weight, I do not care about the number I care about what my body looks like. I could stand to loose another 10-15 lbs.

Got to say im impressed sounds like you really are working very hard and doing as much as you can. ill post my tips on how to lose weight just for you to have. But also i can understand how sometimes you simply have no time, when i was boxing i was in the same shoes id work go to and do some boxing run errands so many different things if you want to lose weight while your at work then this will work for you, i used this when i wanted to cut my fat percentage there called Acai Berry. now they help you because they contribute to burning fat even when your sitting. So this way you will be able to shred a lot of fat on the days your too busy and not busy!

You can find out more here

      http://www.BigDiscounts4U.com/burnfatnow.html

Also below ill paste some tips for to lose weight.

Okay the best way to lose weight is to concentrate on 2 main things, this is your diet and your workout.

      —Diet—-

You need to get both of them right, now your diet should work like this… you should be eating a meal every 2-3 hours but not a junk food snack/meal. When i say meal i mean something which is healthy ie you might have some pasta with tuna, or a quick banana as a snack. The foods you eat should be COMPLEX carbs ie pasta, brown bread etc etc. You also want to try and get as much fruit + ved in a day. Make sure you have a good amount of protein throughout your meals.

Now you also need to work out your Basal Metabolic Rate, this simply tells you how many calories you burn a day, you need to find out how much your actually eating now its most likely to be in excess if it is you want to TRY and cut down 500 calories and stick to your new total amount. This shouldnt be hard because you will be eating Complex carbs which are just as filling but have a lower calorie count but are better for you than empty calories which are found in simple carbs.

      —Workout—

Okay now for your workout what you want to be doing is concentrating on many different types of cardio exercises. These are your jogging, swimming basically anything that makes you sweat and makes your heart pound. If you can join a gym as they have a lot of cardio machines there. Now once you get in to the hang of say jogging, what i mean by this is say you jog 20 mins everyday eventually you will come to a point where your not losing anymore weight this is like hitting a brick wall, this means you need to up the game, start jogging that extra five minutes a day, start taking that one less suagr in your cup of tea.

I can guarantee you that you will lose weight i have had to both GAIN and LOSE weight as i was an ex boxer I assure you that this will work, but the most important tip is motivation from YOU!

      Best Of Luck

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you’re consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
      Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
      Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
      http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is “Muscle and Fitness”. Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com

Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to “gainbetterhealth” if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.
